Feels So Good...
Henry has been sick for almost a week now, so I have been unable to take him to the Kids Club at the gym, which means that with the exception of the weekend, I have been unable to go to the gym for my workouts. I have been walking outside, and using my treadmill and weights that we have in our little "home gym."
It has been tough trying to get motivated lately, but it is the best feeling when you finish a tough workout that you didn't even want to begin in the first place. This morning was a great example of that for me. I really wanted to go to the gym, but Henry is still coughing and not feeling 100%, so I ended up on my home treadmill again. Standing there in my sweatpants and baseball cap, strapping my Ipod to my arm, all I could think about was how much I didn't want to do this today. So I told myself to run 1 mile. If I still didn't feel like running after that first mile, I could get off the treadmill and call it a day. Of course, after that first mile the good endorphins were flowing and I wanted to keep going. I ended up running 3 miles in 30 minutes, and doing an additional 30 minutes of strength training. I was looking in the mirror as I was doing push-ups - my red, sweaty face with no makeup looking back at me. It was at that moment that I realized that I feel the most beautiful during my workouts - despite the fact that I am wearing sweatpants and no makeup. It was a pretty amazing feeling. All of a sudden I felt strong, healthy, and beautiful - and I was so glad that I did that workout...
